Stephen Wolfram Joins Synthyra as Advisor

NEWARK, DE, August 25, 2026. Synthyra Public Benefit LLC today announced that Stephen Wolfram, PhD, has joined the company as an advisor. He will advise the team on computational systems and scientific software as Synthyra grows its commercial research products and advances systems-guided biological design programs.

Wolfram created Mathematica, Wolfram|Alpha, and the Wolfram Language, and his work has shaped symbolic computation, computational knowledge, and technical computing for four decades. His work with Synthyra will focus on how the company represents biological systems computationally and turns that representation into tools researchers can reason with.

“Stephen has spent his career building computational systems that make complex domains usable without stripping away their structure,” said Braydon McCormick, PhD, CEO of Synthyra. “That is exactly the kind of judgment we want around Synthyra as our models grow from prediction into scientific infrastructure for reasoning about biological systems.”

Synthyra's commercial research products predict protein-protein interaction, protein-ligand interaction, and functional annotation at proteome scale. Those predictions feed a broader objective: therapeutic, enzyme, and metabolic programs chosen for the disease response and toxicity they produce at the systems level, not for a single molecular property such as an interface score.

Synthyra is opening limited product access for research teams and speaking with experimental, therapeutic-development, and strategic partners.

About Stephen Wolfram

Stephen Wolfram, PhD, created Mathematica, Wolfram|Alpha, and the Wolfram Language. He is the founder and CEO of Wolfram Research and the author of A New Kind of Science. He completed his PhD in theoretical physics at Caltech at 20 and was the youngest recipient of a MacArthur Fellowship. His work spans computation, complex systems, and artificial intelligence.
